Turkish As A Second Language
Today, Turkish language with its written form and dialects is spoken by 400 million
people in an area of 12 million square km. Turkish language occupies the fifth rank
as a widely spoken language in the world. According to a survey made in 2005, Turkish
with its written form and dialects is used as a mother tongue by 79 million people.
The Turkish diaspora includes:
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albenia, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece,
Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Northern Cyprus, Southern Cyprus, Syria, Iraq
In addition, Turkish is spoken widely by migratory populations (in some countries
by millions, in some countries by thousands) in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France,
Belgium, Netherlands, Great Britain, Sweden, the USA, Canada and Australia.
